Research
My research activity is focussed on two fields: the history of Chinese gardens and Australian architectural history. The 17th-century treatise Yuan ye has been the main focus of my work in the last decade. I have been exploring its pertinence to contemporary debates in architecture and landscape architecture. My work on Australian architectural history deals mainly with 20th-century issues. Recent papers have discussed themes such as racism, modernism, architectural journals, and professionalism in Australian architecture.
