SUSTainable DEVelopment
I wanted to improve my knowledge and skills in some key areas like energy conservation, urban planning, and urban sustainability assessment that help to achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental protection.
Why I chose to do the program?
I had been an environmental official for several years in a local government in south of China before I entered into the program in 2001. I wanted to improve the quality of my decision making which could be realized by incorporating sustainable principles into decision making process. I wanted to improve my knowledge and skills in some key areas like energy conservation, urban planning, and urban sustainability assessment that help to achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental protection.
Where am I working now?
After I completed a master in the program of sustainable development in 2002, I worked as a policy researcher in Beijing and then to be a university lecturer. It was really great to have chances to teach people of those what I learn from the program. I am currently a UNSW Built Environment PhD student. My research aims to develop an assessment tool for sustainability of urban built environment.
