To mark the Year of the Built Environment in 2004, the Faculty of the Built Environment (FBE), UNSW staged one of its largest and most impressive graduand exhibitions in the Sydney Town Hall.
An exciting and at times daunting journey is nearing its end for the Industrial Design students of 2004. What lies ahead for this group of creative minds is in my view an exciting, successful and rewarding future. Their tertiary experience at UNSW has encouraged and nourished their enthusiasm for design and to their credit they have learned and mastered the skills that will take them into the next phase of their lives.
Industrial Design like no other profession is very much on the frontline as a provider of products for human interaction. Both in terms of emotional fulfilment and functional appropriateness the design solutions presented in the catalogue demonstrate an outstanding ability to provide results to any given problem. Following an instense research phase in session one the students have responded to their findings in the most professional manner, brainstorming ideas, concept development through to final three dimensional model making, their design proposals are innovative, fresh and commercially suitable.
