Issues
The new administrative city will address three major issues: the city as a symbol of a new era, the city as symbol of innovation and the city as a means of education.
Objectives
- To create a symbolic and legible city heart that has significant components.
- To create a liveable city for young and old, for tourists and residents.
- To create a good city for the independent movement and provide an educational environment.
Strategies
- Form a clear structure of paths, nodes, landmarks, districts and edges for the city. The buildings around the areas will be designed as background buildings, with a foreground building located at each end of the two axis. Therefore the city core will have clear landmarks.
- A cross-axial plaza forms a clear core, representing the city level administrative buildings and continuous spatial experience.
- The buildings around the city core will function as mixed-use of administrative offices, business centres, residential and commercial buildings, providing multi-functional activities.
- Elevate the central plaza to allow unobstructed open vistas to the river and allow traffic segregation.
- Provide following basic elements of day to day life for the neighbourhoods: walkable distances and safe streets to cater children and the elders; traffic calming to promote good streets; educative environment for residence.
