Issues

Arncliffe site is located at the crossroads of several major arterial roads, across the Cooks River from Sydney Airport's International Terminal.
There are three major train stations that service the site, as well as bus route along Princes Highway. Despite the high degree of regional accessibility, Arncliffe's density capacity is underutilised due to the lack of efficient, East-West connections across the railway line, and poor residential street layout.
The decline of industrial activity in the area has create many opportunities to rejuvenate the district, clean up the heavily polluted waterways, and open up the riverfront to public access.

Objectives

Densification of population to take advantage of existing transport infrastructure.
Create a regional commercial and high-tech 'hub' for Airport-related businesses.
Improve accessibility form West Arncliffe to the Airport, and simplify the road system.
Create a fully accessible waterfront for recreation and public use.
Provide adequate community facilities to support the future growth of the area.

Design Strategies

Construct 'Arncliffe Parade'; anew boulevard linking Turrella to the Airport, through Arncliffe, with high-density mixed-use developments to activate streets.
Create a distinct commercial, retail and community 'hub' at Arncliffe Station with key high-rise buildings.
Introduce waterfront residential living at Turrella, with a publicly accessible waterfront all the way to Brighton Beach.
Develop a high-tech industrial park at Cooks Cove to complement the growth of Airport-related industries.
