7° is a celebration of the diversity of the built environment—and much more! It highlights the achievements of this year’s fi nal-year students in the architecture program. It’s a celebration of the graduands’ architectural knowledge and skills in conceptual design thinking and communication skills. It also acknowledges their hard work and persistence: although these projects were designed and developed in twelve weeks of sleepless nights, endless model-making and computer presentations, we should remember that the architecture program represents five and a half years of study.
The range of individually identifi ed and developed graduation projects presented in the exhibition refl ects contemporary architectural issues in the profession and the community. Unfortunately, the exhibition is only a selection of the fi nal projects—there is insuffi cient space to exhibit all students’ work!
The University of New South Wales Faculty of the Built Environment Architecture program has two graduating groups each year, with over 130 students graduating in 2005.
These graduands will soon be entering industry both here and abroad to put into practice their years of undergraduate experience and training. In celebrating their educational experiences in the community of the Architecture program, I am confi dent that these graduating students will make a signifi cant contribution to the profession and their chosen professional practice. These educational experiences are only the start of life-long learning in their professions and will equip them, I am sure, for the changes ahead, whether in their profession, community or work environments.
