Meeting Industry Demand

“There is a shortage of Planners” according to the report by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), Findings and Recommendations of the National Inquiry into Planning Education and Employment, published in August 2004. The PIA inquiry observed that in addition to the current shortage “there will be a growing increase in the number of planners required in the next 5-10 years”.

Building on the expertise in the UNSW Planning and Urban Development Program together with postgraduate offerings from other disciplines in the Faculty, the Master of Planning allows professionals with an undergraduate degree to obtain postgraduate planning qualifications as another means to address the demand for planners.
