Tim Bainbridge - Australian Young Planner of the Year 2006

Tim Bainbridge

Tim Bainbridge was named Young Planner of the Year 2006 by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) for his commitment to high quality planning. The Institute was particularly impressed with his involvement in the Barkly Region Community Safety Strategy and Action Plan for the Northern Territory. Tim was also commended for his leadership in the promotion of planning to young people as the Chair of the NSW Young Planners Group.

What drives you in life?
I think the only way to do well at something is to enjoy it. I really enjoy the work involved in planning and I hope to continue making contributions to the profession.

What sets UNSW Planning graduates apart?
UNSW students benefit from a much broader range of skills and experiences and are ready to join the workforce with a better understanding of planning overall, in government or in the private sector. I started as an Environmental Planner in a consulting firm. I now work for Bankstown City Council in development assessment, and contracted to a private company as a Town Planner to provide general planning advice, consulting on development application preparation, council liaison and planning advice for property acquisitions.
