to be able to tie all the elements together with a successful design is satisfying and rewarding.

Has graduating with the BLArch changed your life?
The Landscape Architecture degree has provided me with a different perspective on society and the environment, and the interactions between the two. I am now equipped to make alterations to that environment to reflect social changes.

What do you do as a graduate landscape architect?
The company I current work for undertakes projects both in Australia and internationally. I have had the opportunity to have a ‘hands on’ design role on many jobs and have enjoyed developing my skills in a real life situation.

Do you love your work? Why?
I love the way that landscape architecture challenges me creatively. No two sites can be approached the same way, to be able to tie all the elements together with a successful design is satisfying and rewarding. Also, the opportunity to ‘change’ a space provides its own creative rewards.

What are some of the most valuable lessons from the BLArch degree?
The Landscape Architecture degree taught me to be disciplined in my design approaches practicing intuitive design, challenging accepted solutions or constructs to make way for creative and innovative design solutions.

How have you apply these lessons to your work?
Learning to work to deadlines and to specific design briefs are valuable skills. On a broader level, my uni degree has helped fuel the desire to create innovative landscapes that are interesting, original, and that will stand out from other options.

What are your aspirations?
I hope to create lasting landscape and urban design solutions that respond to the practical and functional needs of a space and society. I hope that my designs and design treatments evoke thought and challenge the way people view, observe, and interact with a space.
