This page provides information and links for FBE students on managing their
FBE and central UNSW passwords (including setting and initialising them).
You have Multiple Accounts:
It is important to remember that as an FBE student you will have at least 2
accounts at UNSW.
- Your FBE account used for accessing the FBE computers and other FBE
related systems. This uses a 'u' and your student number as the login
(eg u1234567) with the password set by you when following the procedure below.
- Your central UNSW account used for UNSW-wide services like email,
enrollment and dialup. This uses a 'z' and your student number as the login
(eg z1234567) with the UNIPASS password you get during enrollment or later
from E-Spot or the Disconnect desk.
Remember NEVER GIVE YOUR PASSWORDS TO OTHERS, and choose passwords that are
complex yet easy for YOU to remember and certainly not easily guessed by anyone.
Passwords are also case sensitive, so be careful when entering them - this also
makes passwords with a mix of letters (upper and lowercase) and numbers more secure.
Setting your FBE Password:
Your FBE computer account has its own password which is separate from your
UNIPASS password that you recieve when you enroll - though you will need this
UNIPASS in order to set your FBE password. Note that these passwords can be set
to the same thing if that makes things easier for you.
You can use the following link to either setup your password for the first time
- or if you forget your password you can go through the procedure again to reset
it.

Set my FBE Password --
Note that you will require cookies to be enabled on your browser to complete
this process and you may have to accept a certificate from FBE to enable the
secure link.
If you know your current FBE password you can also change it from the FBE computer
labs (after login, press CTRL-ALT-DEL and choose the change password option).
Setting your UNSW Password:
For information on your UNIPASS password visit the Disconnect web pages. To get a
new UNIPASS or for further assistance you can go to E-spot (Level 2 Mathews Building
F23, entry via Mathews Pavillions) or the Disconnect desk at the main UNSW library.
One thing to note with the UNIPASS is that you may need to agree to the UNSW
terms and Conditions of Use before it is valid for all services.
