Program 3 - Capacity Building

3.1 Knowledge Management Project

• Objective: Integration and dissemination of knowledge resources for CHAA projects

  A key outcome of this Project is the integration of electronic resources (Links & References, Newsletters, Events, Publications) across project/sub-project areas in all CHAA Programs. The 2007 Project resources are allocated to deliverables which support CHAA projects as part of the development of an ‘evidence base' behind facility design decisions, benchmarking and evaluation of facilities and capacity building education and training projects. The KIM Project began in 2005 on creation of the Centre and is now at ‘development maturity' with minimised technical maintenance of the website and established processes for content development.

3.2 Health Facilities Workforce

• Objective: To investigate health facilities workforce issues to assist HCAMC develop strategic initiatives for increasing capacity in key occupations.

  The 2005/06 Asset Managers' Course Review Project has become Project 3.2 ‘Health Facilities Workforces Project', with the new direction (Workplan 2006) to inform the Health Capital Asset Managers Consortium (HCAMC) of the existing work in this area (eg education providers, current demand drivers, future professional & career development issues) to support informed workforce planning. In 2006 a Discussion Paper was developed for HCAMC and the Project will be further developed in 2007 with a range of research approaches supporting the development of targeted strategies to address ‘critical' health facility workforce occupations.

3.3 Education Project Outline

• Objective: To provide educational and networking activities for industry to promote best practice health FM and to disseminate CHAA research.

  The 2007 NSW Health seminars series will be on emergent areas of health facilities design interest.
  
  An annual CHAA National Conference will be held and will cover issues relating to the health facility design, procurement and management industry, including the work and research of the Centre.
