Jeff Cotter is the Chief Technology Officer at SIMmersion and the inventor of the SIMurban software suite. Jeff was formerly the Senior Software Engineer for Electro Optic Systems, one of the leading engineering/aerospace companies in the ACT.
Jeff’s innovative and excellent design skills formed the basis for his development of the SIMurban software suite, which is widely acknowledged as one of the most advanced 3D visualisation engines in the world. Jeff continues to lead the research and development at SIMurban to ensure that an Australian software company remains at the forefront of 3D visualisation engines.

City Futures ARC Linkage Grant Success
City Futures has recently been awarded an ARC Linkage Grant for 2005 on ‘Planning for Socially Sustainable Urban Renewal in Suburban Sydney’. State and Local Government partners include the NSW Department of Housing, Fairfield City Council, Penrith City Council, Bankstown City Council, Auburn City Council and the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC).
The research team will be led by Prof Bill Randolph and will include UNSW academics A/Prof Susan Thompson, Dr Bruce Judd and Peter Williams together with Prof George Earl (Bond University) and Sharon Fingland (Assistant Director WSROC). It is a two year research project with a budget of $179,000 including $134,000 from the ARC and the remainder from partner contributions.

New Staff Appointed at City Futures
Two new staff have joined the City Futures team. Kristian Ruming has joined the Centre as Research Officer from the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies at the University of Newcastle and Maria Schwensen is our new Administrative Coordinator.
